Tunisian Health Initiatives
ADRA Tunisia, supported by ADRA Italy launched in 2019 the Tunisian Health Initiative project. This Project aimed to ensure and provide solutions to chronic diseases by the promotion of Healthy Lifestyle initiatives and bring sustainable positive changes that will lead to individual and collective development and improvements of health indicators.
This Project had two components:
The Health Expo involves health professionals and non-medical volunteers from the community who are interested in healthful living. The latter undergo a short training program on the principles of a healthy lifestyle and the different activities offered at a Health Expo. By doing so, effective health education can be given without the presence of so many health professionals. These, however, provide the background scientific and technical support needed at each Expo In September 2019 ADRA hosted a health Expo in Tunis (Av. Bourguiva and La Marsa). The Expo Provided Basic Health Screenings with BMI, Blood Pressure, Glucose testing and information stations to give advice and educate on how to improve and maintain one’s health through proper nutrition, exercise, rest, hydration, sunlight, trust in God, etc. The Health Expo has always been one of our most popular community service events in the past years. This year was no exception as we reached and served over 600 beneficiaries. It was possible thanks to the support and hard work of all our team and volunteers, most of whom are participants of ADRA Jobs center.
Creation Health is a whole person wellness philosophy. It consists of eight principles that are a guide for overall mental, physical, social, and spiritual health. This wellness plan is developed with lifestyle seminars and special training program for those who want to live healthier and happier lives and share this unique whole person health philosophy. The motivation was to motivate beneficiaries to practice with consistency the eight principles of Creation Health: Choice, Rest, Environment, Activity, Trust in God, Interpersonal Relationships, Outlook and Nutrition.
